IHAN Average Time Summary.
The Indiana Heart Attack Network (IHAN) provides immediate access to board-certified interventional cardiologists who have provided care to thousands of patients. IHAN combines the most experienced interventional cardiologists and state-of-the-art facilities in Indiana to provide the best treatment for patients who experience heart attack symptoms. Our people and processes provide better and faster treatment to these patients, which is demonstrated by our successful outcomes.
Our performance.
Much like a trauma team, IHAN provides dedicated, experienced, and highly trained cardiovascular healthcare experts to treat heart attacks. We work with outlying hospitals and emergency room physicians to implement standardized assessment and treatment guidelines to ensure that our team works with the outlying team to quickly care for the patient and their families. When a suspected heart attack patient is at an outlying hospital’s emergency room, the attending physician can immediately contact the interventional cardiologist on duty in Indianapolis.
The cardiologist, along with the emergency room physician, will determine if angioplasty is appropriate and order immediate transfer via ambulance or helicopter to either St.Vincent Heart Center facility.
Because we have been in communication with the sending facility, we know when an IHAN patient will be arriving. A team of healthcare providers is waiting at the door for the IHAN patient and our data demonstrates how efficient our process is once that patient arrives (shown at right).
