Since our Chest Pain Center at 106th Street became accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers in 2008, St.Vincent Heart Center has continued to see high volumes of AMI patients. We also continue to meet the performance standards of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Core Measures. The CMS composite score measures performance with the following clinical criteria:
Our AMI Composite scores have increased consistently. We have met the guidelines in 95% or more of our cases since 2005. In 2009, we achieved a combined score for our 86th Street and 106th Street & North Meridian campuses of 99.5%.
In 2009, St.Vincent Heart Center continued to experience favorable STEMI door-to-reperfusion times (the time between a patient's arrival at the emergency department and balloon inflation) for both campuses as defined by CMS. Door-to-balloon times at both campuses were well below the CMS standard of less than 90 minutes.
