(Fishers, Indiana) - The Heart Center of Indiana at 106th & North Meridian will be donating 14 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Fishers Police Department on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 9:00 am.  Fourteen police officers, with their respective vehicles, will meet at the hospital to accept the donation.

"We are very excited to work with The Heart Center of Indiana and thank them for their generous AED donation," said Chief George Kehl.  "Our goal is to have all our uniformed patrol vehicles equipped with AEDs", said Chief Kehl.

All Fishers police officers are trained in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).  The training also includes training in the operation of the AED.  Police officers on patrol are many times the first to arrive during an emergency.  AEDs are proven to be a life-saving tool if used during the first few minutes after cardiac arrest.

"We feel that it is very important to ensure that as many individuals within our community as possible can be helped through AED accessibility, and we are proud to be involved with the Fishers Police Department by furthering their goal related to this accessibility," stated Elizabeth Cisco, Vice President of Marketing for The Heart Center of Indiana.

The Heart Center of Indiana at 106th & North Meridian is an entire complex of facilities and medical specialists focused on providing advanced, specialized treatment of cardiovascular disease in a warm, comfortable and caring environment.  In addition to a state-of-the-art medical and surgical hospital, The Heart Center of Indiana is home to a 24/7 Heart Emergency Unit, The Vascular Unit, Women's Cardiac Risk Clinic, and the physicians and surgeons of The Care Group and CorVasc.
