With the best and brightest minds using the latest technology, we handle all matters of heart in the way you’d expect from Indiana’s top cardiac care provider. It’s all part of what we mean by the best heart care in Indiana. Period.
Congestive heart failure (CHF) is the leading cause of hospitalization for patients over the age of 65—and it often goes undiagnosed and untreated. That’s why St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, along with the physicians of The Care Group and CorVasc, have created the Congestive Heart Failure Program: one of the nation’s most comprehensive facilities to help care for people with CHF. With both inpatient and outpatient facilities, we can accurately diagnose the disease and provide a full range of treatment options, including mechanical and surgical procedures and lifestyle modification programs customized for each individual. St.Vincent is also staffed by a full range of CHF experts: physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and dieticians specially skilled in helping patients with CHF.
For people with Congestive Heart Failure and their families, there's the Congestive Heart Failure Support Group. Participants meet the first Tuesday of each month to offer advice and support to their fellow group members and discuss how CHF has changed their lives. Goals of the group include:
The CHF Support Group is hosted by Clinical Social Worker, Shelly Plotner, LCSW, and Cardiology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Mary Fischer, RN. With Shelly's 20 years of healthcare counseling experience, and Mary's clinical nursing expertise in cardiology, the pair continues to provide guidance and peace of mind to the attendees of the CHF Support Group.
