IHAN Average Time Summary.
The Indiana Heart Attack Network (IHAN) provides immediate access to board-certified heart specialists. IHAN combines the most experienced interventional cardiologists and state-of-the-art facilities in Indiana to provide the best treatment for patients who experience heart attack symptoms. Our people and processes provide better and faster treatment our patients, as demonstrated by our successful outcomes.
Our performance.
Much like a trauma team, IHAN provides dedicated, experienced, and highly trained cardiovascular healthcare experts to treat heart attacks. We work with outlying hospitals and emergency room doctors to make sure patients receive care quickly. When a suspected heart attack patient is at an outlying hospital’s emergency room, the attending physician can immediately contact the interventional cardiologist on duty in Indianapolis. The cardiologist, along with the emergency room physician, will determine if angioplasty is appropriate and order immediate transfer via ambulance or helicopter to one of the St.Vincent Heart Center locations.
Because we have been in communication with the outlying hospital, we know when an IHAN patient will be arriving. A team of healthcare providers is waiting at the door for the IHAN patient and can quickly begin care (shown at right).
