Job Title:  Diabetic Nurse Educator

Description: 

Plans, coordinates and provides diabetic teaching to guest & families. Responsible for development of an educational plan in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team of nurses, physicians and dietitians. Assist with the development of policies, protocols, guidelines and systems of care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.  Assesses cardiovascular guests and establishes realistic goals and strategies to reduce their risk and maintain good health practices. Helps to develop diabetic didactic content and serve as a lecturer to all new team members on an as needed basis.

 
Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required.  Master’s Degree in nursing or related health field is encouraged.  Evidence of on-going continuing education relevant to the area of expertise is expected.  Minimum three (3) years experience in an acute care hospital setting is required, with five (5) years experience preferred. Critical care and/or cardiovascular specialty experience is required.   Experience in an educational and/or leadership role is desirable.
 
Comments: 

Licensure/Certification:  R.N. licensed in the State of Indiana.  Basic Cardiac Life Support Provider status required or achieved within six months of employment and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider status required or achieved within eighteen months of employment.  Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) required or commitment to obtain within two years of employment.
