Accreditations.

It really does matter where you go for heart care. Not only is St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana the only hospital to be named Best Heart Care in Indiana five years in a row (2006-2010) by HealthGrades, we're also ranked highly among national accreditation programs. That ranks us among the very best in the United States. Period.

Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP)

HFAP sealSt.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana has been accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), one of only three national voluntary accreditation programs authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to survey hospitals for compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation for Hospitals. Originally created in 1945 to conduct an objective review of services provided by osteopathic hospitals, HFAP has maintained its deeming authority continuously since the inception of CMS in 1965 and meets or exceeds the standards required by CMS.

Congestive Heart Failure Accreditation from the Joint Commission.

St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana is the first in Indiana to earn the Disease-Specific Care Certification for Heart Failure from The Joint Commission, the nation's premier healthcare accreditation entity.

The Joint Commission's Disease-Specific Care Certification Program evaluates clinical programs and awards accreditation to health care organizations that demonstrate compliance with national standards and safety goals, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and performance measurement and improvement activities.

St.Vincent began the Disease-Specific Care Certification process in 2005 when it opened Indiana's first multidisciplinary Heart Failure Unit. The multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals at the St.Vincent Heart Failure Center provides evidence-based care for patients and works to improve their quality of life. At the 20-bed Heart Failure Center, patients receive individualized attention from specially-trained staff, and are taught important skills for self care to decrease the chance that they will be hospitalized in the future. Since the opening of the St.Vincent Heart Failure Center, cardiologists and cardiac nurses have treated approximately 3,000 patients.
